Paul Ohren-Bird

Paul Ohren-Bird was introduced into Rallying as a teenager when he went to watch the Lombard RAC Rally, which passed near his hometown, Northamptonshire.

Paul’s rallying career started as a Driver in 1986 when he joined a local Motor Club, Blackbird Auto Club based in Northampton, England. Paul rally prepared and maintained his Ford Escort Mk1 & Mk11 – 1600cc and won local navigational road rallies and championships with Blackbird Auto Club and Mid Northants Motor Clubs. Paul also marshalled and organised various rallies giving him a solid understanding of Rally Navigation and Event Management.

In July 1995 Paul decided to swap seats and went down the route of Co-Driving on Special Stage Events, a decision that proved to be a massive turning point in his rallying career.

During 1995 & 1996, Paul successfully met the criteria of upgrading his National Competition Licence to a FIA International Competition Licence that would allow him to compete around the World and on International Seeded Events.

Paul joined East Midlands Rally Team as Co-Driver in July 1996 and in November 1996 he competed on the famous Network Q RAC Rally. Over the forthcoming years, Paul competed successfully in various National Championships and Rallies around the UK and across Europe.

In 2006 Paul left East Midlands Rally Team to establish a new “Rally Team” – OB Rallying and Motorsport. Apart from running the Organisation, Paul has continued to compete on National & International Seeded Events as Team Co-Driver with various Team Drivers.

Much of Paul’s success has come with Driver’s, Bill Douglas and Tim Daltry. The partnership with Tim proved very successful as in 2009 Paul Came 3rd Overall in the MSA British National Championship. Furthermore, in 2009 Paul won a Class Championship with a result that was impressive as the rally car used was the Peugeot 205 Gti 1.6cc beating many of the modern Rally Cars.

More recently Paul has achieved further impressive results and in 2016 he was the Class “A” Champion by gaining enough Championship Points in the Southern National Championship.

On 1st April 2017, Paul competed on his 100th Stage Rally Event with another outstanding result, again in a Peugeot 205 Gti 1.6cc.

During 26 years of competing, Paul has competed on many high profile rallies and he has been a feature on many World, European and UK Championships while captured and interviewed on Motors TV, Anglia TV, Rally Fever, Special Stage (News Channel YouTube), Eurosport and Sky TV.
