Due to the current Coronavirus outbreak, nothing has happened much for OB Rallying and Motorsport other than looking at events towards the end of the year as all motorsport in the UK has been suspended.
In January 2020, Paul had teamed up with a previous rally driver Bill Douglas and during talks in February, the duo had entered 2 rallies during April in the Mitsubishi Evo 6 and Volvo 244 GLX, however both of these events have been cancelled due to the current climate of lockdown. The events were: –
NHMC Warcop Stages 12th April 2020 – Mitsubishi Evo 6. – Based on the Warcop Military Ranges, this event uses the finest tracks around the complex with 8 stages, totalling 70 miles with 18 road section miles.
Rallynuts Stages – 18th April 2020 – Volvo 244 GLX. – This was part of the Historic Rally Championship (HRCR) with Rally HQ at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells, Wales. This event offered the iconic stages of Myherin, Sweet Lamb and Hafren with 5 stages and 45 competitive miles. I have previous competed on these stages with Bill as this was the Plains Rally back in the nineties.
The team is currently looking at possible plans for the remaining of the year, however this is purely when the lockdown of the Coronavirus is lifted. It looks like the team will be competing on various rounds of the and Historic Rally Championship (HRCR) events and other selected events around the UK.
It also gives us great pleasure that we are currently in talks with John Clayton who will be joining the team as a driver and brings to the team a vast amount of experience. We are currently in talks as which events we will be competing on together once motorsport commences.
We are also looking into the Co-driver and Navigator training that was developed in 2018 and looking at expanding this around the country. Please contact us for further details,
Furthermore, the co-driving books Volumes 1 and 2 on Amazon are selling well around the world, however a 3rd book will start soon to be written. This 3rd book should be on sale towards the end of the year.
We will keep you posted regarding our plans as they develop once the lockdown has been lift and motorsport can resume.
In the meantime, we will be continuing blogs to keep you informed of news, features, previous events and updates of the team.
